How to Boost Your Confidence With Your Personal Style

How to boost your confidence through your personal style

Do you know that feeling when you put an outfit together and it turns out exactly how you envisioned? And how that great outcome has you going through your day feeling like the main character. Imagine feeling that every day because you finally found the personal style that works for you. You get the “I love your style” compliment constantly, and you can’t help but smile sheepishly as you respond, “Thank you.”

Don’t get me wrong, having a personal style is not about caring what people think, it’s very important to know it’s more about what you love and how you’ve decided to express your identity through the clothes you wear.

What does it mean to have a personal style?

We all know that one person we can easily identify just by their clothes, we know no one else puts an outfit together quite like they do. For instance, imagine you have friend who only wears floral prints. They don’t touch any other prints, and you rarely see them in anything else. Then some how, every time you see a floral print, that person is the first thing that pops into your mind.

That is exactly what it means to have a personal style. It’s what you are known for; it’s your personal branding.

How to find your personal style

Discovering what works for you can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to feel that way. I used to think I had to try on a million different things until I answered these three questions to uncover my own personal style:

1. What is your body type?

To know what looks best on you, you need to know your body type. Are you a pear shape, an inverted triangle, or an hourglass? Understanding your proportions helps you choose the silhouettes that make you feel most confident.

2. What are you naturally drawn to?

When you go shopping, what do you lean toward? Take note of the colors, patterns, and fabrics that catch your eye. These are the “soul” of your personal branding.

3. What are your “Go-To” wardrobe staples?

Look at your closet right now. What are the pieces you wear every single day while others just sit there? Your favorite wardrobe staples are the biggest clue to your style.

These questions will guide into the direction you need to go and the actions you need to take to find your personal style. You can also subscribe to our newsletter and get a free personal style workbook to guide you through.

How to Boost Your Confidence With Your Style

Build with Intention

On those mornings when you wake up not feeling like yourself, walking to your wardrobe and putting on the pieces you love can change everything. It reminds you of who you are because you have built your wardrobe to align with your identity.

Prioritize Your Comfort

Don’t sacrifice your comfort in the process of trying to look unique or stand out. If you don’t feel comfortable, you won’t feel confident—it’s that simple. Make sure every piece is well-fitted on you.

Weekly Maintenance

Personal style doesn’t stop at the fabric. Dressing up in a stunning outfit only to have chipped nails or unkempt hair can subtly pull your confidence down. Make sure your grooming matches the effort you put into your outfit.

Maintain a Powerful Posture

Don’t neglect this part, your posture is everything. The way you stand, walk, and sit isn’t just physically healthy, it’s fashionably healthy. Slouching after taking hours to look your best is unfair to the effort you’ve put in.

So, go ahead, open your wardrobe and choose the pieces that speak your language. You aren’t just getting dressed; you’re stepping into your power and showing the world exactly who you are. It’s time to stop blending in and start building your personal style.
